Coaching And Accountability

Early in 2009, I was introduced to coaching through Dana Allin as he brought CoachNet (then under the direction of Bob Logan) into our presbytery as a way of transforming culture, deepening discipleship, and ultimately helping people reach their goals.  I started training immediately and have continued with my own development as well as developing others.  Dana clearly defined what coaching is in his recent blog on the subject.

2015: A Time For Growth And Maturity

Undoubtedly, over the past three years, the most heard phrase used in and about ECO has been, “building the plane in the air.”

Certainly, this phrase was very true of our start. We managed to get to this place: a denomination of over 170 congregations, over 250 pastors, and over 70,000 covenant partners, by putting things in place while we were moving. We moved very quickly. That’s quite an accomplishment in three years, let alone the actual time of two and a half years since the first congregation became a member of this thing called ECO.

In my new role, here at ECO as Director of Operations, I really didnโ€™t know what to expect when I hit the road for some serious business travel. Hotel and airline life are not exactly glamorous, but they do certainly have their own culture. Often, all the travel time allows you to read a lot and this can be rewarding especially when you read something or see something that strikes a chord and makes you think, โ€œThis could certainly apply to what we are doing today!โ€ And what we are doing at ECO, as we build a denomination, is trying to keep up with what God is already doing in our midst.
