Special Offering: World Communion Sunday

The Outreach Foundation invites your congregation to hold a special offering on World Communion Sunday, October 2 to support Syrian refugee children living in Lebanon.

In wartime, school is often a luxury. But the National Evangelical (Presbyterian) Synod of Syria and Lebanon is doing something about it. They are providing education for Syrian refugee children living in Lebanon. With more than 1.2 million Syrian refugees registered in Lebanon, 60% of them children, the Synod has opened four schools in

Lebanon specifically for these refugees. They are currently serving more than 225 children, ages 6-11. Plans are underway to open a fifth school in Tripoli to serve another 100 children. Under the auspices of local Presbyterian congregations and employing church members who are teachers, the majority of children whom they serve, in Christ’s name, are mostly Muslim. Many have never been to school.

In addition, the Synod has welcomed into six of its “regular” schools nearly 70 Syrian students (many of them Christian) who can adjust to the Lebanese system with the necessary academic preparation but who require scholarship assistance.
