Mission Collaboration & Connection

By:

Often my starting point for describing ECO Global Engagement is to point people to one of our core values, missional centrality: “We believe in living out the whole of the Great Commission – including evangelism, spiritual formation, compassion, and redemptive justice – in our communities and around the world.”

The more I talk with mission leaders in our churches, we’re recognizing that we all have room to grow in living out this value. Making disciples of ALL nations is a big commission. And, living into the whole gospel ministry that encompasses evangelism, compassion, justice, and discipleship – the whole of the Great Commission – is a pretty big value to live into! And, it’s not clear or easy to figure out how or where to start.

Coming Together

A great place to start a process of healthy growth in mission engagement is to look for connections, networks, or partnerships that provide a context of mutual sharing and accountability. Maybe you come together with other churches in your presbytery for a joint outreach, or develop a global partner overseas, or join a network for the specific place or ministry your church is passionate about. Getting connected and collaborating with others helps us identify best practices in mission and can begin a multiplying effect in our involvement.

I am convinced that congregations grow in mission engagement when they are connecting and collaborating with others. So, lately, I’ve been thinking over another one of our core values, accountable community:

“We believe guidance is a corporate spiritual experience. We want to connect leaders to one another in healthy relationships of accountability, synergy, and care.”

Upcoming Opportunities

There are two excellent opportunities coming up for you to collaborate and connect with other leaders engaged in mission. These are events where you can begin or grow your relationships of accountability, synergy and care with mission leaders in our partner organizations and other ECO congregations. These upcoming events are opportunities to live into ECO’s Core Values of missional centrality and accountable community.
